Welcome Back To School

It is a New Year. I am glad that you are alive.

Welcome back to school. Well you might feel excited to leave home, you don’t like the feeling of  waking up early in the morning, wearing school uniform, attending long classes, writing long notes, doing assignments, preparing for tests and exams. I can go on and on.

I remember that I did not like school. Yes, I know I am blunt, but in every circumstance you find yourself, you need to excel. So don’t form bad guy for me, I know you want freedom to play, read novels, party, gist, hang out with friends, which most likely the school environment will not give you.

Therefore, why don’t you have fun and excel exceedingly in school. You will ask me, how?

During, my days in secondary school, I read so many novels, while in the university, I watched too many movies, but what helped me was that I had friends who were brainy, so the few hours I chose to study, they were there to guide me.

The state of your mind and feelings is based on you. It does not matter if your parents forced you to go school or your teachers punish and flog you.
You have the power to decide what you want. You can allocate time to your different activities.

Be determined that no matter the situation you find yourself this term/year, you will be the custodian of your life. Therefore, before you make any decision this term/year, be ready for the consequence.

If you want to play all through the term/semester and prove to be a bad guy or follow friends like you, then be ready for an average or poor result. For example, if you play games, gist and party through the term/semester, without taking time to study, then be ready for an average/poor result.

I always say, that if you are not going to be proud of the consequences of your actions, then don’t start it. I thank God, that while I was in school, that even though I read too many novels and watched films, I discovered that I have a photographic mind (I could cram my notes within a short period of time and pass).

Well I am facing the consequence of my actions, as I did not perform excellently well, but thank God I did not do badly either.

Choose excellence today.  You can do this by knowing who you are, what are your likes/dislikes, what/who influences your decision making process.

HOW TO PREVENT YOUR CHILD FROM BEING A TERRORIST

With the increase in terrorism all over world, you find that the attackers are usually young people. These questions now come to mind,

Who are these people?

How are they recruited?

What is their motivation?

Who are the people funding terrorism? &

Many more…

In simple terms, terrorists are people that carry out terror or agents of terrorism. They are people that believe in a seemingly positive cause, they fight for their “right” by harming and inflicting pain on other people outside of their sect.

The people that have been recruited will be people that had the need to be accepted and wanted to be part of a cause that they believe in. Even though, some of the people recruited were forced against their own will.

In Syria, a young boy of 13 years of age can be seen carrying weapons and killing people with it. Definitely, there will be people that would have recruited and trained him to believe in their vision and carry out the evil acts.

At what point does a child make the decision to be good or bad. It takes a lot of consideration by the child either to act right or wrongly.

To prevent your child from being a terrorist, as a teen and family motivational speaker, I advise that:

- You should show love to your children always

- Always pray for your child

- Spend time with your child

- Speak in a loving manner to your child

- Discipline and correct with love

- Let your child know that you are open to listen, no matter the challenge

- Be a good example to the child

- Inform, inspire and motivate your child to be the best.

If only our parents can do these things, am sure the upcoming generation will be better.

I believe in the future leaders

YOUR DECISION

With so much crisis going on all over the world, it is important to know that your choices and decisions affect you and other people directly or indirectly. For example, the siege that has been going on in Kenya for over three days, bombing of a church in Pakistan, random shooting at a naval yard in the U.S, shows that the future of the world is at stake.

TOO BUSY TO MAKE PROGRESS

Welcome to a new week.

It always amazes me when I ask people I speak to or coach, to get some books to read and they say they cannot because they are too busy.

It also amazes me when I recommend events that are capacity-building focused to some folks and they tell me they are too busy to attend.

YOUR I .D CARD, YOUR PASS

I was at the police station during the week as an escort to bail someone out. First of all, the person to be bailed was at fault, he purchased goods and there was no form of identification with him when the police men intercepted him and did a search of him and his goods.. The police men interrogated him for a very long time and we had to plead for his lack of knowledge concerning the matter .
